The Roman Route

Hello Everyone,

On February 18th, Maggie, Joe, and I did the 'Roman Route' in Zaragoza with Joe's Rotary counselor. Zaragoza was first founded by the Romans and was a very important city for trade because the River Ebro runs right through the city. Although the modern city of Zaragoza was built right on top of the Roman city, you can still go the the underground museums to see the old market place, port, and baths. We all met up at a cafe at 9 a.m. and had breakfast before getting started. After breakfast, we started the route at the Roman market place. We then continued on to the Roman port, stopped for a coffee, and then finished up with the Roman baths. It was absolutely incredible to see an entire Roman city underneath a modern city of 800,000 people. I was also really neat to see what was the beginnings of Zaragoza. We finished at about 1:30 p.m. The Roman Route was probably the most exciting and interesting thing that I've seen in Zaragoza so far. I hope you enjoy the pictures!

Until next time, Brian
