Motorland

Hello Everyone,

On May 5th, I went with Joe and his host parents to Motorland, a race car track, to watch the races. Joe's host dad, Pablo, had tickets and they invited me to go along! We arrived at about 12:30 p.m. but the first race didn't start until 1 p.m. Pablo had special "back-stage" passes so we were able to go into the inner ring where the racing teams and drivers were to meet and talk to them as well as see the cars up close and tour the garages before the races began. After taking a look around "back-stage," we found our seats and waited for the races to start. There were various races throughout the day as well as different car classes. During the first formula 2 (the same as formula one except the cars are a bit smaller), there was a very bad accident where one car clipped the bumper of another and it went flying completely in the air and broke into a million pieces after a crash landing. The pace car came out as well as a ton of ambulances to take away the driver. I don't know what sort of condition he was in. The ambulances blocked the accident from the view of the spectators. It began to rain pretty hard so the race was suspended. Since it was raining and the race was suspended, Pablo, Pilar, Joe, and I went to eat lunch and explore in a near-by town. We later returned to Motorland to watch more races. It was very fun and exciting. I had never been to a car race in person before. I really enjoyed it!

Until next time, Brian
